Lori speaks three European languages as well as Michif and Lakota. She used to be an archaeologist, and has always loved the outdoors, whether hiking or cross-country skiing, usually with one or more dogs. More recently, Lori has done freelance writing online for various venues. Now she's living her dream as a full-time author. Lori lives in a small Craftsman bungalow in North Dakota with her big Akita girl, Kimiko, and braves the snows of winter, the floods of spring, and the tornadoes of summer just like her homesteading ancestors did. At least she has better heating and air conditioning!
Lori has been active in dog rescue since 2001 and is a member of Small Paws Rescue, Inc., the largest national breed rescue organization.
